For Those Who Hunt the Night

Hex Mortis is an Atlanta-based design and fabrication company working on the "Constantine" television series.  While the show is struggling in the ratings it's certainly not because of the props.  There's some beautiful work on display in their gallery, both from "Constantine" and their private commission work.

Here's the "Sword of Night":

The "Ace of Winchesters" rifle for battling occult creatures.  There's something strangely familiar about that concept.  Heh.

The "Amulet of Pazuzu".  I knew prop houses provided multiple hero and stunt copies, but I never realized just how many they cranked out.

Winchester produced some pretty fancy items on occasion as well as a number of engravers and carvers who the enhanced guns later. This occult variation is not as strange or as lavish as it may seem. BTW the “saddle ring” on the side is a vestige of attempted military contacts on their carbine length guns. It’s a hold over from the muzzle loading period where cavalry carbines sported rings to attach to the rider so the gun wouldn’t be lost in battle or by accident.

Very nice engraved Winchesters:

Post Scriptum The Pazuzu amulet is interesting as well. Wikipedia has an original bronze amulet that is similar: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pazuzu

Most people remember Pazuzu from the Exorcist movies (1971 & 1977). It has also graced Propnomicon posts: http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/2011/03/pazuzu-amulet.html and http://propnomicon.blogspot.com/2012/01/lord-of-wind.html
