Surviving the Fauxpocalypse

Nuclear Snail has a great video on what to bring to a deep immersion post-apocalyptic LARP. In the past year, thanks to the influence of "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "Fallout 4", there's been an explosion in the number of after the bomb events. In the United States it's become the go-to theme for airsoft weekends even at fields that don't normally do scenario games. One of the reasons is that it's cheap. You can put together a decent costume and kit with off the shelf gear and a trip to the thrift store.

yeaaahhh. so I play in one of these Post-ApocaLarps, and your remarks are on point. Also, zombies are one of the favorite targets for a lot of people, no remorse in killing that which is already dead, but add into that survival horror, co-operative defense of a place, or even pvp against other survivors. The game I play is Dystopia Rising: Gatorland in Florida, and while costuming can be cheap, a lot of people put some great work into genre-ing up their costumes, while some spend a lot of money on top notch painted nerf guns or on custom contact safe weapons. You should see some of the stuff we do to transform our cabins and play spaces.
